Travel in COVID-19 time — Which travel insurance to choose?
The pandemic has changed the way we travel, and if taking out travel insurance before was an essential step for things to go well, with the appearance of COVID-19, it becomes vital!
As you know, since entering the Portuguese market, IATI is the insurance company I choose, since it offers the best policies for the type of trips I take.
So it was with joy that I learned that the company now includes “anti-COVID coverage” in all its insurance.
What does this mean? That coverage of expenses that involve cancellations or travel assistance, for example, now includes situations that comprise this new diabolic virus.
Best of all, it doesn’t just cover situations with the insured person, aka the traveler, but includes parents or children who test positive for COVID-19.
New travel insurance in COVID-19 time
But it was not only in terms of coverage that travel insurance has adapted to these new pandemic times.
IATI has also launched two new insurances that fit perfectly with the type of trips we have been taking, as travel abroad is strongly conditioned.
IATI Getaways and IATI Family are the big news!
IATI Getaways is intended for travelers who are planning trips around Portugal and Europe. It is ideal for cyclists, for those who opt for motorhomes and campers. It can also be purchased to ensure pets and even includes medical consultation so that you don’t have to go to the doctor if it’s not strictly necessary.
IATI Family is designed for those traveling with children. It provides medical coverage dedicated to the youngest, such as pediatric telephone care, immediate emergency assistance for children, repatriation assisted by a family member if something happens to the parent, and higher child civil liability.
As I started by saying at the beginning of this post, the uncertain times we live in make travel even more complicated. Therefore, I cannot stress the importance of health insurance that suits your trip, and that fits you as a traveler.
