Many airlines lower flight prices when approaching the date / time of departure. The idea is not being left with empty seats, clearing inventory and always compensating the travel costs.
Of course, this trick doesn’t work so well if you have a specific date in mind. But for last minute travel or some unforeseen getaway, this is a trick to always take into account.
