CARCOSA SERI NEGARA

Carcosa Seri Negara is the ancestral estate of Eleanor Young, one of the main characters of the film, but in fact, these twin buildings played a significant role in the history of Malaysia.

Here lived the country’s first British resident, Frank Swettenham, and later became a luxury hotel where Queen Elizabeth II stayed.

The mansion located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia capital, on a hill near the Perdana Botanical Garden, is now being transformed into the Asian Heritage Museum.

CHEONG FATT TZE

The courtyard of the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion in Penang was selected for a mahjong scene between the characters Eleanor Young and Rachel Chu.

The Blue Mansion, as its called, was owned by a Chinese merchant who spent his wealth on its construction. Designed to contain feng shui elements, it has become a showcase of his wealth through imported finishings, including Scottish cast iron columns, English art-nouveau stained glass windows, and Stoke-on-Trent floor tiles.

After being abandoned, the building was eventually restored and won the UNESCO Heritage 2000 Award and the 2004 ASEANTA Conservation Award.

LANGKAWI ISLAND

A scene from Colin Khoo’s bachelor party was filmed here.

Langkawi is not only an island but also a set of 99 islands surrounded by emerald-colored water.

All the stunning scenery and geological formations found here, said to be billions of years old, earned it the title of Global Geopark by UNESCO, the first of Southwest Asia.

This was the setting for Araminta Lee’s party in the movie. Commemorations aside, this elegant resort is the perfect place for those seeking the tranquility of nature and the starting point to discover the UNESCO Global Geopark.

Be enchanted with the pavilions and villas of this luxury hotel, decorated in the Malay style and offering romantic hideaways around every corner.

ASTOR BAR, ST. REGIS KUALA LUMPUR

Probably you’ll not recognize this bar in the movie. That’s because the Astor Bar, in the St. Regis Hotel Kuala Lumpur, was transformed into a jewelry boutique in the “Crazy Rich Asians,” the place were you introduced to Astrid Teo, also dubbed The Goddess.

At the Astor Bar, you’ll indulge in Old World charm and the elegance imparted by materials and details made of leather, black and white marble and brass.

The only “jewelry” around here is champagne, spirits, fine wines, and a special cocktail called “The Astrid” presented temporarily to celebrate the making of the film.

The Indonesian Tourism is very proud of his country stood out in many of the scenes of the movie.

All these spots look amazing but for sure the one that I want to visit the most if I ever have a chance to go to Malaysia is the Langkawi Island.
