THE CHILL HILL — IN A FRIEND’S HOUSE

The Chill Hill
3041 Views

There are places we visit and where we stay that make us want to come back time and time again. The Chill Hill, in Watu Karung, is one of those places.

Imagine a super cozy homestay, ten paces from the beach, with lovely conditions and the best host possible. It sounds like a dream, but I found it to the south of Java, Indonesia.

I’m not talking about a hotel or a luxury accommodation planted by the sea. The Chill Hill is a simple stay, but with all the conditions you need.

Hospitality and Dining at The Chill Hill

The area is divided into a central house, where the wife of our host Afis prepares every meal. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with top quality and impeccable variety. The spicy was sometimes a bit too much for my taste, as it happens in this part of the world. But a special request on my part soon became a drastic reduction of the condiment and my stomach thanked. ☺ Be prepared to eat a lot of fish and vegetables.

One thing I’ve missed was the fruit. But I chose to buy some in the city and Afis’s wife always prepared juices if I ask her to.

Sleeping On The Beach

Around the main house, there are three bungalows, each with bedroom, private bathroom, mosquito net and air conditioning. Because we are close to the jungle, it’s not surprising to find some insects in the bathroom, as it is open near the ceiling. But just be careful to close the door and you’ll rarely have unwelcome “guests” in the bedroom area.

All the houses have a porch to spend layback afternoons facing the beach and garden, which is treated with extreme care by Afis.

The Chill Hill offers Wi-Fi connection but doesn’t have a pool. I didn’t miss one, as I took a few steps and had the fabulous Watu Karung beach at my disposal.
